Can I make this casserole ahead of time?
Yes, you can assemble the casserole the night before and refrigerate it. Just bring it to room temperature before baking.

What can I substitute for heavy cream?
You can use whole milk or half-and-half as a substitute for heavy cream. However, the casserole might be slightly less rich.

What can I serve with this casserole?

What you need to make Cinnamon Roll Casserole:

For the casserole:

2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

3 large eggs

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)

For the vanilla glaze:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1-2 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to make it:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Prepare cinnamon rolls: Distribute the cinnamon rolls evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Make the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Pour the mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and set.

Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or powdered sugar as needed.

Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before drizzling with the vanilla glaze. Serve warm.

Optional: For added richness and flavor, drizzle the casserole with maple syrup before baking. You can also add chopped nuts or fruit to the top before baking.

Tips:

Don’t Overbake: It’s easy to overbake a casserole, resulting in dry cinnamon rolls. Keep a close eye on the baking time and check for a golden brown top.

Let it Cool: Before drizzling the vanilla glaze, allow the casserole to cool slightly. This will prevent the glaze from melting immediately and running off.

Get Creative with Toppings: While the classic vanilla glaze is delicious, feel free to experiment with other toppings like cream cheese frosting, maple syrup, or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

Make it a Meal: This casserole is a versatile dish. Serve it with a side of bacon or sausage, or pair it with fresh fruit for a complete breakfast or brunch.

  1. Could you use the icing that comes with the rolls for topping? Just heat it slightly in the microwave.
