Questions I often get aksed about this recipe:

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Absolutely! While Swiss cheese is traditional, you can experiment with other cheeses like Provolone, Gruyère, or even Cheddar for a different flavor profile.

What can I substitute for Thousand Island dressing?

If you don’t have Thousand Island dressing on hand, Russian dressing is a great alternative. You can also make your own dressing with mayonnaise, ketchup, and a touch of lemon juice.

How can I make these sliders ahead of time?

To save time, you can assemble the sliders and cover them with plastic wrap. Refrigerate until ready to bake. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time to ensure the cheese is melted and the sliders are heated through.

What are some good side dishes for Reuben sliders?

Reuben sliders pair well with classic comfort food sides like potato chips, french fries, or coleslaw. For a lighter option, a green salad would also be a great accompaniment.

Can I grill these sliders instead of baking them?

Yes, grilling the sliders can add a smoky flavor. Be careful not to overcook the buns.

What’s the best way to reheat leftover Reuben sliders?

To reheat leftover sliders, wrap them individually in foil and warm them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.

What you need to make Reuben Sliders:

1 package (12 count) slider buns or Hawaiian rolls

1/2 – 1 pound deli or prepared corned beef, thinly sliced

1 can sauerkraut, well-drained

12 slices Swiss cheese, Provolone or a combination (about 8 ounces)

1/4 cup (stick) butter, softened

2 teaspoons poppy seeds

Thousand Island or Russian dressing

How to make it:

Preheat oven: to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare buns: Split the slider buns or Hawaiian rolls in half without separating them completely. Place the bottom halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Layer ingredients: Spread a thin layer of Thousand Island or Russian dressing on the bottom buns. Top with a layer of Swiss cheese, followed by corned beef, sauerkraut, and another layer of cheese. Drizzle with additional dressing if desired.

Prepare topping: In a small bowl, combine softened butter and poppy seeds. Brush the tops of the sliders with the butter mixture.

Bake: Cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the sliders are golden brown.

Serve: Cut the sliders apart and serve immediately.

Tips:

For extra flavor, grill the corned beef before assembling the sliders.

You can add a sprinkle of caraway seeds to the butter mixture for a classic Reuben flavor.

For a crispy top, broil the sliders for a few minutes after baking.
