Questions I often get asked about this recipe:

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?
Absolutely! This tiramisu is even better after it’s had time to chill. You can make it a day or two in advance. Just cover it tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

Can I substitute the ladyfingers for another type of cookie?
While ladyfingers are traditional, you can experiment with other cookies like sponge fingers or even graham crackers. However, keep in mind that the texture and flavor will be different.

What kind of cherries should I use?
Fresh sweet cherries are best for this recipe. You can use either dark or red cherries, depending on your preference. Frozen cherries can be used as a last resort, but they may release excess water, so you might need to adjust the cornstarch amount.

Can I make this recipe without alcohol?
Yes, you can omit the Grand Marnier or brandy altogether. The recipe will still be delicious. You can also substitute with a non-alcoholic alternative like orange extract.

Is there a way to make this recipe lighter?
To lighten up the recipe, you can use Greek yogurt instead of some of the mascarpone cheese. You can also reduce the amount of sugar in the cherry jubilee and tiramisu components.

What can I do if the tiramisu is too runny?
If your tiramisu is too runny, it might be because the ladyfingers weren’t soaked long enough in the coffee mixture. You can try dipping the ladyfingers in the coffee again before adding them to the next layer. Alternatively, you can refrigerate the tiramisu for a longer period to allow the flavors to set.

What you need to make Cherries Jubilee Tiramisu:

For the Cherry Jubilee:

24 ladyfingers

2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled

1/4 cup Kahlua or Amaretto (optional)

250g mascarpone cheese, softened

3 large egg yolks

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons whipped cream

1/4 cup cocoa powder

How to make it:

Make the Cherry Jubilee:

In a medium saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, water, Grand Marnier, and orange zest.

Make the Tiramisu:

In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.

Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold into the mascarpone mixture.

Dip ladyfingers briefly in the coffee mixture and arrange them in the bottom of a glass baking dish.

Spread a layer of cherry jubilee over the ladyfingers.

Top with a layer of the mascarpone mixture.

Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of mascarpone mixture.

Sprinkle with cocoa powder.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Dust with additional cocoa powder and add fresh cherries before serving.

Tips:

For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of chocolate shavings to each layer.

Garnish with fresh cherries and a sprig of mint.
