Questions I often get asked about this recipe:

Can I use a different type of nut butter instead of Nutella?
While Nutella provides a unique flavor, you can experiment with other nut butters like hazelnut butter, almond butter, or peanut butter. Keep in mind that the taste will be different, and you might need to adjust the sweetness based on the nut butter you choose.

Can I make this recipe gluten-free?
Yes, you can make this recipe gluten-free by using a gluten-free flour blend. Be sure to choose a blend specifically formulated for baking. Also, check the chocolate chips and Nutella for any potential gluten cross-contamination.

How can I make this recipe vegan?
To make this recipe vegan, you’ll need to replace the butter with a vegan butter substitute and the eggs with a flax egg or applesauce. Additionally, ensure that the chocolate chips and Nutella you use are vegan.

Can I freeze this cookie pie?
Yes, you can freeze this cookie pie. Let it cool completely before wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. To thaw, place it in the refrigerator overnight.

What can I do if the cookie dough is too dry?
If your cookie dough is too dry, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until it reaches the desired consistency. Be careful not to add too much milk, as it can make the dough too wet.

Can I make this recipe in a different pan size?
While a 9-inch pie dish is recommended, you can adjust the baking time if you use a different size pan. A larger pan will require a shorter baking time, while a smaller pan will require a longer baking time. Keep an eye on the pie and check for doneness.

What you need to make Nutella Stuffed Cookie Pie:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided

1/2 cup Nutella

How to make it:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.

Combine wet ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.

Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

Assemble the pie: Press half of the cookie dough into the prepared pie dish, forming an even layer. Spread the Nutella evenly over the cookie dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Top with the remaining cookie dough, pressing it down to cover the Nutella. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.

Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Let cool slightly before serving warm.

Tips:

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.

You can serve this warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert.

For a fun twist, add chopped nuts like hazelnuts to the cookie dough.
