Easy Tiramisu Recipe
Tiramisu. What a great word. The name alone sounds intriguing, and fancy, and expensive. The origin of this exquisite dessert is full of myths and legends. It did originate in Italy but much more recently than some may suggest.
According to What’s Cooking America, “America’s most trusted culinary resource since 1997,” it was created in a restaurant called Le Beccherie in Treviso, located northwest of Venice on Italy’s northern Adriatic coast in December 1969.
The word Tiramisù literally means “pick me up.” It comes from the Treviso dialect, “Tireme su,” Italianised into Tiramisù. The “pick me up” aspect refers to the caffeinated espresso in the dessert. The catchy name and the decadent dessert caught on like wildfire. By the 1990s, it made its way to America, beginning in San Francisco.
